Half Day Training Course

Combines a Standard trial flight (30mins) and a full flying lesson with additional detailed introduction to microlight training and covering exercises 1 – 6 of the BMAA Syllabus thoroughly. Includes Temporary Club Membership, landing fess etc.

Day Training Course

Extends the Half Day Training Course to a total of three hours flying with the aim of completing Phase 1 of the BMAA Syllabus exercises 1 – 9b. Includes Temporary Club Membership, landing fees etc.

Training Packages

INTRO

Take this ten hour flying time ‘intro’ as individual lessons or as an intensive week course. We include a BMAA Syllabus, Pilots log book, Microlight Pilot Handbook (Cosgrove), Air Law (Weighell or Reed) and a knee board or map case. Student Club Membership, landing fees etc all inclusive.

PILOT

The Pilot course includes the ‘Intro’ (10hrs) plus another 15 hours flying training to meet the 25 hour minimum requirement for the NPPL (Microlight) Licence.  Again the training can be taken as an intensive course or the flying lessons can be booked individually. Also included is a navigation kit and the cost of the five multiple choice exam papers to complete your theoretical qualifications.

GOLD

Go for GOLD!   Take our flying aptitude lesson and you can sign up for our Gold package.  You have some, or all, of the elements we think will make a good pilot and you have the potential to gain a licence in 40hours which you can do in six weeks or, up to six months. The course is the ultimate all inclusive package and is realistic if you are 44 years plus.

Personal pilot pack – includes the equipment provided in the Intro and Pilot course.
40 hours flying training including all landing fees
Five multiple choice exams
General Skills Test (GST)
CAA Licence fee
Ground School Support including marking and de-briefing on 5 mock multiple choice papers
Any additional flying training required – strictly within the six month period – completely free of charge!!!*

Complete in less than the 40 hours we will refund pro rata at £118.00 per hour.

SILVER

The SILVER package is the fast track option for a full licence based on a realistic 30 hours flying tuition.  You have the commitment to complete a licence in four months and we recognise your potential to achieve this. You are probably in the 30 to 44 year age group.

Package content as Gold but less ten hours.

Any additional flying training required – strictly within the four month period – completely free of charge!!!*
Outside of the four month period training charged at £118.00 per hour.

Total    £3,940.00

BRONZE

This is our Restricted Licence package and again is subject to an assessment flight.  To achieve success, as with Silver you will have to focus on gaining your licence within the four month time frame.  Fifteen hours is the minimum for the licence. You probably have some previous flying experience, perhaps you are a hang glider or paraglider pilot?

Package content as with Gold but less 25 hours.
There is no free flying due to failure to complete with this option unless you upgrade during the course.
Outside of the four month period training charged at £132.00 per hour or £118.00 per hour if upgraded.

Flying Lessons

A standard flying lesson is booked into a two hour slot, one hour briefing and debriefing and one hour flying: Everything is provided for you and Club Membership, the briefing time and landing fees are all included in the price.

Based on two and half hours flying. Includes away landing fee and breakfast!

Pilot for a Day

Based on four and a half hours flying (Summer) plus pilot stop allowance.

Become an owner – save more money!

Owning a share in an aircraft will enable you to continue flying when you have a licence.  Flying training charges in any of our syndicate aircraft are £99.00 per hour – saving £33 per hour on the standard price.  Students often opt to become an owner when they go solo but you can join the scheme as soon as you like – and save more money!  Full details of syndicate schemes and costs are available in the Members area of this web site or on application.

Note:  From the BMAA records we know that the average age of individuals taking up microlight flying training is 44 years, that they take on average nearly 54 hours to complete a licence, and, this over a period of 1.9 years!
